Two Player Position Scene Starters
This works best in groups of 3.
The group collaborates on developing three scenes based on the list of Physical Positions that follow these directions. One actor plays player one, one plays player two and the third acts as the director, but in reality all three collaborate on the scene creation. To create the scenes the students use the basic 4 square scene chart, and the group decides, based on the positions, the answer to the questions: Who are the characters, What do they want, Where does it take place, and what is the problem, obstacle or problem that gets in their way.
The scenes tend to be very short, and therefore are excellent for students newer to English. All groups, from newcomers to advanced English learners to drama students enjoy this activity a lot and an added bonus is that it works well with substitute teachers.
